Det nye museet

28. august: Visningen av filmen fredag 29.08 er filmens Norgespremiere. Etter visningen blir det etterfest i Nedre Foaje.

Gjennom observerende filmopptak tar Birgitte Sigmundstad oss med inn i møterommene og på byggeplassen. Vi møter menneskene som arbeider med kunsten, ser verk og gjenstander som forberedes til flytting og de gamle museumsbyggene som nå er blitt historie. Uten å forhaste seg tar filmen oss med i diskusjoner og planlegging og vi følger arkitektens opp- og nedturer.

Det nye museet gir et innblikk i prosessen og forventningene bak byggingen av museet, og resultatet er en nær og ofte fornøyelig film som stiller spørsmål om hva et museum skal romme og hvem det lages for.

THE NEW MUSEUM explores the making of the new National Museum for Art, Architecture and Design.

August 29th: The screening of the film on Friday 29.08 is the Norwegian Premiere of the film. After the screening there will be a premiere party in Nedre Foaje.

Through observational footage, Birgitte Sigmundstad takes us into the meeting rooms and onto the construction site. We meet the people working with the art, see works and objects being prepared for relocation, and witness the old museum buildings that have now become history. Without rushing, the film brings us into discussions and planning processes, and we follow the architect’s ups and downs.

The New Museum offers insight into the process and expectations behind the construction of the museum, resulting in an intimate and often entertaining film that raises questions about what a museum should contain – and who it is built for.
