We Shall not be Moved

About the film:
We Shall Not Be Moved turns obsession into art in the directorial feature debut of Pierre SaintMartin, a bold Mexican satirical comedydrama inspired by true history.
Socorro (Luisa Huertas) is a sexagenarian lawyer obsessed with finding the soldier who killed her brother during the 1968 student massacre in Tlatelolco, Mexico City. This need for justice masks an old guilt that has made her enemies with her sister Esperanza and her son Jorge. After decades of waiting, she receives the missing clue to find the soldier, which leads her to conjure up an absurd plan of revenge that puts her assets, her family, and even her life at risk.
Shot in striking blackandwhite, the film’s quietly intense visuals mirror Socorro’s inner landscape: its pain, its stubbornness, and its longing. Luisa Huertas gives a performance that is both vulnerable and fierce, anchoring a story that mixes sharp satire with the tragedy of collective history.
We Shall Not Be Moved is not only a reckoning with past injustice—it is a meditation on how grief shapes identity, how truth eludes us, and how sometimes justice comes in the oddest, most human forms.
