Birita

Hennes sønn, Búi, vil sette opp stykket, og er også regissør for filmen vi ser. Birita husker ikke så godt lenger og trenger hjelp til daglige gjøremål. Hennes trofaste ektemann hjelper henne, og sammen skal de fylle rollen som Kong Lear. I filmen diskuteres det etiske ved å la Birita opptre, men Búi mener at teatret har vært livet hennes, og at det er det viktigste. Med foto av det vakre og litt trolske landskapet på Færøyene rammer Búi inn denne rørende filmen.

Birita has been a legend in the theatre on the Faroe Islands. She has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, but is nevertheless set to perform in the play King Lear.

Her son, Búi, wants to put on the play, and he is the director both of the play and of the film we are watching. Birita's memory is fading, and she needs help with daily tasks. Her devoted husband helps her, and together they take on the role of King Lear. The film raises questions about the ethics of letting Birita perform, but Búi believes that the theatre has been her life, and that this matters most. With cinematography capturing the beautiful and slightly mystical landscape of the Faroe Islands, Búi frames this moving film.
