The Match

A documentary about the historic football match between Argentina and England in 1986.

The match was not only a historic sporting event. The Falklands/Malvinas War in 1982 was fresh in the memory of both countries, giving the quarterfinal match a politically charged dimension. This was also the match in which Diego Maradona scored his famous «Hand of God» goal. Through archival material and interviews with players participating on both sides, the film tells an emotional story of a match that was much more than «just a football match».
