Senegalese jazz musician Alune Wade travels through West Africa and on to New Orleans to delve into jazz music's connection to African music and culture.

The film does more than trace the legacy of African musical and cultural traditions across the diaspora worldwide. It brings together voices from both sides of the Atlantic and opens up new dialogues about jazz, spirituality and food traditions. Through interviews with academics, musicians and cultural workers, it uncovers the roots of jazz and its deep, often overlooked connection to African music and culture.
