Night passengers

Into this crossroads comes Laura, fleeing a troubled past to start again alongside a cousin. But a fresh start is never clean: the pull of quick money and old habits soon draws her into the town's long nights, its street codes, its parallel economies of loyalty and crime.

Around her gathers a disillusioned youth not so different from herself — young people held hostage by the monotony of a small town, caught each day between who they were and who they might yet become. Shot with a restless handheld camera and a dense, living soundscape, this is immersive social realism in the vein of Ken Loach, attentive above all to the women who hold this place and its people together.

A luminous, unsentimental chronicle of a town, where those on the margins fight, quietly and stubbornly, for a better life.
