Mikkel E. G. Nielsen is an Oscar winning Danish film editor. He is best known for his work on several high-profile films, among Sound of Metal (2020), The Banshees of Inisherin (2022), Beasts of No Nation (2015), Royal Affairs (2012) and King’s Game (2004).

Mikkel E.G. Nielsen graduated from the National Film School of Denmark in 2001 and has worked vigorously on feature films, TV series, short films and commercials since. Today he edits between Copenhagen, Los Angeles, and New York through the renowned film editing company RockPaperScissors.

He won several awards for his editing, including an Oscar and BAFTA Award for Sound of Metal, a BFE Cut Above Award for The Banshees of Inisherin, and a Danish Film Award for King’s Game. He was also nominated for an Oscar and BAFTA for best film editing for The Banshees of Inisherin.

Mikkel’s great talent lies not only within storytelling, but also in his editing choices, style, and techniques. In this masterclass, he will share his experiences of editing and collaborating with director Darius Marder on Sounds of Metal, director Martin McDonagh on The Banshees of Inisherin, and director Cary Joji Fukunaga on Beasts of No Nation. He will also elaborate on editing short films and commercials (among some directed by Martin De Thurah). The masterclass will be in English.
