I filmen tar Hanne Tyrmi oss med i prosessen fram mot separatutstillingen i Kunstnernes Hus. Alle husets saler står til hennes disposisjon. Bly, stål, ulltepper, lær og kjetting utforskes og bearbeides til monumentale verk som sprenger rommene. En spenning mellom indre uro og det som truer utenfra. I filmen får vi et innblikk i Hanne Tyrmis kunstnerskap og hvordan hun gjennom hele livet har utforsket materialer og menneskelige relasjoner. Arbeidene hennes preges av brutalitet og alvor, men gir også håp.

"No Fear"

Podium presents the group exhibition “No Fear” reflecting on the dystopian climate change, ecological crisis and loss of biodiversity we are witnessing today. Hanne Tyrmi’s work explores the vulnerability that characterizes both society and the individual, an experience of barriers and loss, power and impotence. Tyrmi uses ideas about the body – as social and political reality – as a central point in her work. For this exhibition Tyrmi will present two works - "Jeg roper navnet mitt og holder meg for ørene" from 2022 and "Omen" produced in 1996. By processing materials such as lead, steel, bronze and cardboard, the artist conveys basic human experiences and gives them physical and tactile form.

With an interest in the animal's perspective on reality, its symbolic nature and constant presence in mythology and our everyday life, Hanna Antonsson creates sculptural hybrids by blending taxidermy with sculptural and photographic elements. In this exhibition, Antonsson will present “Auto Wing VIII”, where birds, their wings and feathers are deconstructed and morphed with new materials, artificially coming to life through moving electronic parts.

Kaja Leijons video work "We Carry The Fire” consists of edited drone videos of various natural landscapes. These video sequences are at first supernatural in their perfection, but dissolve into pixelated images of analog noise from broken VHS clips spliced with documentation of natural disasters impulsively filmed on smartphones by witnesses. The physical world merges with the virtual one, and the film can be read as a status report on our future, present and past.

Hanne Tyrmi (b. 1954) is educated at the Norwegian School of Crafts and Crafts in Oslo. Tyrmi lives and works in Norway, but has had longer working stays in Berlin, Brazil, Delhi, Johannesburg and Paris. The artist has had solo exhibitions at, among others, Kunstnernes Hus, the Museu de Arte Moderna in São Paulo, Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, Haugar Kunstmuseum and Kunstnerforbundet.

Hanna Antonsson (b.1991) lives and works in Gothenburg and has a degree in Fine Art Photography from HDK-Valand. In the past year, Antonsson has exhibited at the group exhibition “I wouldn't touch that if I were you”, at A house Ark in Stockholm and in New York with a group exhibition at Subtitled.nyc. As well as shown works at Volkano (Gothenburg), FRAC (Corsica), Way gallery (Stockholm), Galleri NOS (Stockholm) and Safehouse 2 in London.

Kaja Leijon (b. 1980) lives and works in Oslo. She is educated at the Norwegian Academy of Fine Arts (Oslo). Leijon has had solo exhibitions at, among others, Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin), MELK gallery (Oslo), Kunstnerforbundet (Oslo) and SPACE 4235 (Genoa). She has previously shown works at Kunsthalle Mainz (Germany), Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Berlin), Murat Centoventi Due Arte Contemporanea (Bari Italia) and the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts.
